The Role of Women in Leadership
The role of women in leadership may, to some, be a an irrelevant topic for consideration. After all, aren’t we past all that in 2021? But, as followers of Jesus, we are not to be guided by the world but by the Bible (the word of God). And for many generations, that has been interpreted to say that women may not fulfill certain leadership roles in the church. At Pine Grove, the policy has been that women may serve in any leadership role except that of elder.
The current elders (Xander, Paul, Les, Wes), having studied the matter carefully and prayerfully have proposed that there are no scriptural grounds to prohibit anyone from being an elder due to their gender. This post contains the video of the meeting in which we presented this proposal to the church as well as the PowerPoint presentation in PDF format. Since that presentation, we have received two further documents from members of the congregation for consideration in this matter which are also included here.
